With the opening of Drake Bay Backpackers, the first hostel in the region that offers accommodation and cheaper tours, Drake Bay has finally become accessible to travelers on a budget. Do not miss the opportunity to experience the last great wild frontier of Costa Rica. Revenues generated by Drake Bay Backpackers are invested directly in environmental programs of the Corcovado Foundation.

The Corcovado Foundation

The Corcovado Foundation
Drake Bay Backpackers is owned and managed by the Corcovado Foundation, a non-profit organization that works with local people in the Osa Peninsula to protect nature. The Foundation was created by residents of the Corcovado National Park to lead the fight against illegal hunting and logging. It is a local leader in conservation, which works closely with the National Park Service to protect the wildlife heritage and the future of protected areas. It promotes environmental education and defends the rights of local communities, while promoting responsible tourism as a tool to help protect the Osa Peninsula of unsustainable development. The Foundation runs various programs in which volunteers can participate, including conservation of sea turtles, environmental education, reforestation, cleaning of beaches, the development of responsible tourism, and more.
